I remember driving down the highway in southeastern Saskatchewan and passing this scene in the field. Naturally, we turned around to get a closer look and to snap a picture! This image could be a very worthy subject for some creative writing lessons. Can you imagine the stories?
I have done photo shoots where I'll designate a certain town, scenic view, or architectural spot. I've anticipated what I might find there and already be visualizing some shots in my head. But without fail, cool scenes emerge on the way, or if I have to take an alternate route. It takes me by surprise, yet I often expect it to happen. On occasion, there's one picture from the whole lot I've taken that sticks with me.
I am fascinated by contrasts in life and in work. Take this image for example. A person enjoying some downtime watching tv, not in the comfort of their living room, but in a field. I mean, if you want to relax who cares really where you do it?
This picture is a small reminder to stay open, be observant to see the surprises. Enjoy them. Document them if you want, but don't go so fast you miss them!
