Mugs and greeting cards = < the human quotient
I realized recently that there was a pattern with some objects I was keeping. I have been collecting mugs from placed I’ve worked at. Like a momento, so I’d never forget where I’ve been. And then the cards…birthday, Christmas, sympathy, thank you. I’ve been keeping a trove of them. Why? So I wouldn’t lose that memory? But the reality is obvious: these things are a connection to the past, possibly a "clinging" to the past. If the mugs are hidden away at the back of a cupboard,

Sometimes with images, less is more.
It's all in the details. One of my favorite things to do is transform photos into 'other' versions of the original. Whether it be just applying a few filters, or flexing a complete transformation into an abstract image...I sure do love putting time into photo editing in these ways. Before I changed this image, it was a typical shot of two kids by the water. Nothing really stood out to me in the image. But when I removed details, somehow it drew me in and evoked a new sense

A sea of people
I was reminded of what it was like in 2019 in Red Deer, Alberta. Yes, it was extremely cold for a couple weeks...but there was something much bigger than that which dominated every conversation. The 2019 Winter games. This was before the dreaded covid descended on our life. During these ceremonies I was enthralled with the crowds, the sounds, the colors. It was an exceptional time to be an athlete, and to be a volunteer.
